Shingo Forest

As the story begins, you get to see a beautiful animation of Expel and what I believe is Claude's arrival in the Shingo Forest. The animation ends on Arlia and we meet Rena for the first time.

Close up on a house in Arlia.
Rena: I'll be going.
The door opens and we see Rena.
????: Wait!
Rena: What, Mother?
Rena's Mother, Westa: What do you mean, 'what'? You went there yesterday and the day before. You don't need to go there again today.
Rena: But I feel so calm somehow when I'm there. Can't I go?
Westa: No you can't. So many strange things have happened since the Sorcery Globe landed.
Rena has angry scribbles at this point.
Westa: We had a big earthquake last night ... and I hear that the animals have become so violent. Don't go, it's too dangerous.
Westa has the three dots in a bubble..
Westa:  This is not the time to be going.
Rena: I'll be going!
Rena runs off leaving a somewhat speechless Westa.
Westa: Uh, wait.
Westa meets the three dots.
Westa: That girl ... really loves the Shingo Forest.
Westa returns to the house and the screen draws up to see Rena standing in front of the general store.
Rena: Whew. Too dangerous, too dangerous. My silly mother is so annoying. I should go quickly to the Shingo Forest.

Okay, break time. Don't go to the forest just yet. You see those three chests behind you? Open em for a Resurrection Bottle,  200 FOL, and some handy Leather Armor. Your equipment should be automatically updated. Go into the General Store and talk to the shopkeeper.

Mr. Hearn: Hi Rena. You have such a cute outfit today. What can I get you?

The shopping screen opens up. I'm going to assume that you know how to use it and I won't put in a tutorial on it. If you don't know how to use it, then figure it out. Get a pair of sandals and settle the accounts.

Mr. Hearn: Thank you.

Again, your equipment should be auto updated. Go out and start getting chatty with the people. If you don't want to, I'm putting the conversations here anyway.

Man (near the fence): After the Sorcery Globe landed on the continent of El, where sinister demons suddenly began prowling about. The animals in the vicinity of Arlia have become violent... It is a disquieting story.

Little girl (running around the structure in the grass): Nice weather today.

Old Woman (outside of Rena's house): Hi there, Rena. Are you going to the Shingo forest? Don't make Westa worry too much.

Maid (In the Mayor's house (near the river)): Oh, Rena! The Mayor has stepped out for a little.

Two kids (The house just labeled 'House' next to the man near the fence and don't forget the Strawberry Jam in the treasure chest!)
Little boy: Hi, Miss Rena.
Little girl: Hello, Miss Rena.
Rena: Hello. Are you two alone again today?
Little boy: Yes, again.
Little girl: Rena, will you tell us a story like you always do?
Rena: I'm sorry. I have to go out for a little, but I will tell you a story when I get back.
Little girl: Hooray!

Go on to the left, where the birds are headed for more conversation.

Lucia (standing near the entrance): They say it's too dangerous, so I can't leave the village. ...No fun.

Young girl (walking near the entrance): Hi, Rena. Have you been to church? Today's sermon is your favorite story of the Warrior.

Husband (in the red house): Hi, Rena. Today's earthquake was pretty big.
Wife: The earthquake was so scary that I couldn't sleep at all last night...
Go upstairs for two treasure chests that contain a Blueberry and some Rose Hips.

Cross the bridge in Arlia and go into the Church for even more conversation.

Young girl: Yesterday's earthquake was very strong. I get scared when they happen so often. I hope God will do something...
Boy: Rena, the Priest's sermon today was too hard to understand.
Priest: Hello, Rena. Today I have a sermon on the Warrior of Legend ... The holy man who uses the Sword of Light enchanted by the gods to destroy the evil presence. It is said that this warrior of Legend who wears Alien Raiments is sure to appear when a crisis threatens the world ... The disasters caused by the Sorcery Globe are eating away at the world day by day, threatening its destruction. We need the powers of this Warrior now if ever. God is certainly trying our faith.

Leave the church. Nothing else there. Go down from there.

Old man: Hi, Rena. Are you going to the Shingo Forest?

Continue down and you'll see Arlia in the background and a bridge in front of you. Cross the bridge and save at the save point to the left. The save point tells you what it is. Nice and helpful, eh? Go down and across the screen.

Rena: ... Ahh. I feel so calm when I come here to the Shingo Forest. Maybe I'll go a little deeper into the forest today.

Well? Keep going. You'll lose control of Rena's movements on the next screen.

Rena: It feels so good here... That Mother of mine is such a worrywart. There's nothing dangerous here...
A monster comes from behind
????: LOOK OUT! BEHIND YOU!
Rena question marks: Wha?
Rena turns and falls: EEEEEEK!
????: RUN!

The blond haired boy approaches and  proceeds to kick butt with 'BURN! BURN! BURN!' ???? actually gets a level with that battle.

????: Whew. I made it just in time.
Rena thinks: Who is this man? Those strange clothes ... and that light ...? Killed the monster in a flash...
Rena pulls the three dots.
Rena: Um... I...
????: Are you all right? That was a close shave. Now, there's something I want to ask you...
???? Approaches Rena and she turns and runs.
????: Hey! Wait a minute...

On the previous screen where Rena wanted to go further into the forest, she stops, but is facing away from you.

Rena thinks: He surprised me... Coming up to me so suddenly... But I really shouldn't have run away like that. (Rena turns around) He did say to wait ... didn't he?
Rena moves forward and pulls the three dots.
Rena: I wonder if he will be coming along...

The blond haired boy comes running on the bottom of the screen. He approaches Rena.

????: Good. I'm glad that you stopped and waited for me.
Rena: I'm sorry about running off like that...
????: It's OK. Don't worry about it...
Rena: Um... It's just that I was so surprised. It all happened so suddenly.
???? scratches his head: I see. Were you afraid?
Rena: Well, maybe a little. But I'm really sorry about that. After you had saved me and all...

At this point, I got ticked that ???? still didn't have a name. Don't these people know anything about introductions? :p

????: It's OK. Don't worry about it. And you did wait up for me, after all.
Rena: Gosh, I'm forgetting my manners. My name is Rena... Rena Lanford.
????: Me, I'm Claude, Claude Kenni. Pleased to meet you.

Ahh! Finally!

Rena: Hee-hee. The pleasure is mine.

Yeah. Sure.

Rena question marks: Um... Mr. Claude? You were going to say something back then...
Claude: Oh, that's right. It's nothing really, but... Where ... are we?
Rena question marks and the scene fades and refocuses on the bridge into Arlia. Forgive me if this isn't completely accurate conversation. It went fast and I haven't gone back and checked it yet.

Rena: Are you a traveler?
Claude: Yeah, something like that.
Rena: Where are you from?
Claude: I'm from... Earth.

They stop walking.

Rena: ...Urth? Where exactly is that?
Claude: Well, hmmm. How should I put it? I know... it's a place far away from here ... I think it's really far away.
Rena question marks: ... A faraway place? WOW!
Claude: Well ..., it's not quite so amazing.

Maybe not to you bud, but to someone who is on a planet where there's no apparent electricity, it's got to be pretty darned amazing. I'm surprised there was no other reaction here.

Rena: ... Mr. Claude. Across the bridge here is Arlia.
Claude: So this is the village where you live... But is it OK for me to barge in like this without notice...?
Rena: Don't worry about it. I want to thank you formally for saving me...
Claude: You needn't bother with that... I really didn't do anything.
Rena: Tee-hee. Anyway, don't worry about it. We can't do much entertaining anyway..

They walk into Arlia.

Rena: Welcome to Arlia.

Claude takes a look around and walks on forward without Rena. How rude!

Claude: My, this is a pretty place.
Rena: Do you think so? Thank you very much.
Claude: Yes, it is a nice place. I really feel good.
Claude does the three dots and approaches Rena: Oh yes, would you mind showing me around the village?
Rena: OK. I'll do that.

Claude joins your party. Well? Start showing him around. Start with talking to the old man.

Rena: Good morning, sir.
Old man: Hi, Rena. My, you are chipper today.

Go into the church.

Rena: This is Arlia's church. This is where they hold weddings in the village. The priest here is very earnest and always there for us when we need advice or guidance.
Claude: He sounds like a wonderful man.
Rena: Yes, we all depend on him.

Claude rejoins your party. Talk to the people in the church.

Young girl: Wow, Rena, you sure have some guts to bring your boyfriend to church.

Boy: Rena, won't you stay for today's sermon about the Warrior?
Rena: Sorry, but I have to show my friend around today...
Boy: That's OK, I understand.

Priest: Ahh, Rena ... how extraordinary. Did you not go to the Shingo Forest today?
Rena: Yes, I went there and came back, but so many things have happened...
Priest: Is that so? The animals in the Shingo Forest have been acting strangely of late. Be careful.

Go out and cross the bridge to the red house.

Rena: This is the house of a newlywed couple. They are so lovey-dovey that it is embarrassing just watching them.
Claude: I see.
Husband: Hi, Rena. Is this your boyfriend?
Wife: Wow, Rena, your boyfriend is quite handsome.

Go on out and talk to those people walking around.

Young girl: Oh, is that guy an acquaintance of yours, Rena? ... Your boyfriend, maybe?
Rena: Oh, no, he saved my life! It's nothing like that!
Young girl: Tee-hee. It was a joke, but you take it so seriously. You're so cute.
Rena: Ugh! (yeah, my feelings exactly)

Lucia: Rena, I haven't seen Mr. Alen in a while. Will he be coming soon?
Rena: You're right. I wonder what has happened.
Claude: Rena, who is this Mr. Alen?
Rena: He is a childhood playmate of mine. He's from a neighboring town.
Claude: So that's it. (Do I detect a note of jealously so early on?)

Go on into the next section of town and hit the general store for some sandals for Claude.

Rena: This is Mr. Hearn's General Store. They sell lots of useful things.
Claude: Something smells good.
Rena: That is the smell of herbs.
Claude question marks: Herbs?
Rena: Yes, medicine that heals wounds. An absolute necessity for traveling.
Claude: Is that right? Herbs. I've never heard of them before. (Must have eaten totally bland food to not have heard of herbs)
Rena: You've never heard of herbs?
Claude: Never.
Rena pulls the three dots: It's amazing you made it this far without them.

Mr. Hearn: Hi Rena. Are you on an errand today with your boyfriend?

Okay. Get the sandals.

Mr. Hearn: Thank you.

Go out and talk to people again.

Man: Oh, Rena. So you too have found a boyfriend to walk with. Your mother is bound to be worried.

Go in the 'House'

Rena: The man of this house is a carpenter. He is now working on a big job in a neighboring town, so he is often gone for some time.
Claude: So the two kids are home alone?
Rena: Yes. I feel sorry for them. I come over and tell them stories as much as I can.
Claude: Rena, you really are nice, aren't you.
Rena: Not really. (Yes, you are.)
Claude: Ha, ha, ha.
Rena: Oh, stop it.

Little boy and girl: Miss Rena!
Rena: Is your dad off again to work today?
Little girl: Yes, he's been gone for two weeks.
Little boy: But we're OK! I'll protect my little sister.
Little girl: Yeah, we aren't lonely. Big brother is here, and Miss Rena plays with us!
Little boy: Will you tell us a story today?
Rena: I'm sorry. I'm a little busy today. Next time, OK?
Little boy and girl: OK.
Little girl: Remember, you promised.

Little girl outside: Rena, take me along next time.

Mayor's house next.

Rena: This is the house of the Mayor of Arlia Village. He is a very smart man. But he doesn't seem to be here.

Maid: Ah, Rena. Regis has gone to Salva. He will be back soon.

Old woman outside: Oh, Rena, who is your friend? I've never seen him around...
Rena: His name is Mr. Claude. He said that he is in the middle of a journey.
Old woman: Is that so? Why, I thought he was a stranger.

Go on to Rena's house. Once you go in, the two will come out and have a short conversation.
Rena: This is my house. I have to clean up a little inside, so please wait outside for a little while.
Claude: Okay, I'll wait.
Rena: I'll be back soon.

Rena goes inside and talks to her mother.
Rena's Mother, Westa: Oh, Rena, you're back. What is the matter?
Rena: Oh, mother, a terrible thing has happened.
Westa: What is it? You exaggerate so.
Rena: I am not exaggerating. He appeared! The Warrior!
Westa: Eh?
Rena: The Warrior, the Warrior of Legend! Don't you understand? The Warrior has finally come to save us.
Westa exclamation points: Rena, you ... Are you sure?
Rena: Yes! He was wearing clothes that I've never seen before and he had the Sword of Light.
Westa exclamation points again: The Sword of Light?!
Rena: Yes. I was saved by a mysterious light in the Shingo Forest. That must have been the Sword of Light.
Claude walks in.
Westa: So where is he now?
Rena: He is right outside.
Westa: Rena, ahem...
Rena: Huh?
Rena spots Claude.
Claude: um, excuse me...
Rena exclamation points and moves toward Claude: Oh, Mr. Claude! What is the matter!?
Claude: I was waiting but you didn't come out. I was wondering what was the matter.
Rena: Oh, sorry.
Rena: Would you mind waiting outside for a little longer?
Claude: Oh, sure. Do you mind if I walk around the village a little?
Rena: Go ahead. Do that. (Kinda cold, ain't she)
Rena: Whew. He surprised me.
Westa: Rena, was that him?
Rena: Yes.
Westa: Are you sure it's OK? I mean leaving him alone like that.
Rena: It's OK ... I think.
Westa does the three dots: Rena, you ask him to come to the house. That's much better. Let's do that.
Rena: OK, I'll call him.
You get control of Rena again. Go to the door.
Rena: Mother, you really believed me...
Westa: Of course. You are my daughter, after all.
Rena does the three dots: Thank you.

Now to find Claude. You have to talk to people to find him, so get talking.

Old woman: Oh, that young man? He was walking around, asking lots of questions. Is Arlia such a curious place?

Little girl outside: Oh, that man? What? He was over there just a minute ago.

Kids in the house
Little boy: He just came here, but...
Little girl: He's not here now.

Man outside: The man that you were just here with asked some strange questions. He was asking about masheens and such. I couldn't understand, so I told him that.

General Store
Mr. Hearn: Oh, that young man? He showed me some strange thing and asked if I knew anything about it. When I said 'No' he went away somewhere.
Cancel out of the buy screen, or get some herbs.
Mr. Hearn: Thank You (if you purchased) Take your time. (If you didn't.)

Back outside, go to the left side of the village.

Lucia: That guy? I don't think he has gone outside the village.

Young girl: Rena, where does your boyfriend live? I know he is not from Arlia, and I have never seen him in Salva. He said something about that he doesn't even know where this is.

Newlywed house
Husband: What? Oh, your new boyfriend? I haven't seen him. Speaking of someone I haven't seen, how is that Dias Flac doing?
Rena: Huh? Oh, him.
Wife: How many years has it been ... since Dias left Arlia?
Husband: Well, I can't say that I blame him for feeling like that.
Wife: It certainly was a terrible tragedy. But still...
Rena: Well, ... I must be going.

My thoughts on this little scene is that Rena didn't want to talk about Dias for some reason. It's clear later on that she has feelings for him that run more toward the romantic side. Perhaps she felt that way about him before and his leaving hurt her. She may still be feeling the pain of it.

Go on to the church
Young girl: Oh, you mean your new boyfriend? Sorry, I was so absorbed in prayer that I didn't notice if he was here.
Boy: The Warrior has a shining sword, right? I'd like to see it ...
Priest: Mr. Claude...? Oh, that young man who came a little while ago. He seemed troubled and asked me many questions. I believe he has left.

Leave the church and there's Claude wandering around. Go get him.
Rena: Mr. Claude, sorry to keep you waiting.
Claude: Oh, Rena.  ...Are you ready?

Pick yes. You know you want to. Claude joins your party again. If you pick no, he'll wander around again until you are ready. Go on back home.

Claude: Hello.
Westa: Oh, Rena, that was quick. But good timing. I just now finished the preparations.
Rena: Preparations?
Rena walks up and looks at the table and sweatdrops: Oh mom, what is this mountain of food for?
Westa: Doesn't it look good? I did my best to make it all.
Rena: I'm not talking about that.
Westa: What is it? Won't you eat? I just wanted to fix something for Mr. Claude in gratitude for him saving you.
Rena: I can understand that, ... but don't you think it is a bit much?
Westa: Do you think so? Don't you know how much young men eat? Mr. Claude you must be hungry, right?
Claude: Well, now that you mention it...
Westa: See? Young men have no problem eating this much. Mr. Claude, eat as much as you like.
Rena gets angry scribbles and Claude is embarrassed.
Rena: Oh, mom!
Claude: Uh, OK.

You know, if Westa fixes this much food for all visitors, maybe Dias left to avoid overeating every time he went over to Rena's house?

The scene fades and we rejoin an hour later upstairs in Rena's house.
Claude: Urp... I can't eat any more. I'm finished.
Rena: You didn't have to clean your plate. Are you OK?
Claude: I'm fine. I've got an iron stomach.
Rena: That silly mother of mine made too much.
Claude: But it was really good. My mother couldn't make such good food.
Rena: Even if that's flattery, I'm still happy. I'm glad you liked it.
Rena: I'll be downstairs helping Mother clean up. You can relax upstairs for a while.
Claude: Okay, I'll rest a little.
Rena goes downstairs.
Westa: Rena, where is that young man?
Rena: Oh, he said that he had enough to eat. He is resting upstairs.
Westa: Oh, good. Rena,. why don't you call the Mayor while you have the chance. It is dark outside, so be careful.
Rena: OK. I'll be careful. Bye.

You get control of Rena. Go on over to see the Mayor.

Rena: Mr. Mayor!
Regis: What's all the fuss about, Rena?
Rena: Mr. Mayor, don't be so nonchalant. Come quickly to our house.
Regis: Oh dear, what exactly is going on?
Rena: At last, the Warrior has come!
Regis exclamation points: What!?
Rena: It's true! He had the Sword of Light so it had to be him.
Regis: What? The Sword of Light?
Rena: He was also wearing the alien raiments so it just has to be him. That man has to be the Warrior of Legend.
Regis walks away: Hmm. What is all this about?
Regis turns back to Rena: Now, Rena, where did you see this person?
Rena: In the Shingo Forest. He saved me with his Sword of Light when I was attacked by a demon. He is staying at my house right now.
Regis pulls the three dots.
Rena: It's true. And what's more, he says he is 'traveling' even though he doesn't know where he is. He doesn't even know where he came from. Don't you think it is strange?
Regis: Certainly ... this is quite odd.
Regis pulls the three dots: I know that you are not the type to lie.
Rena: Mr. Mayor...
Regis: Well, I will get nowhere without meeting him. Let's just listen to his story.
Rena: OK!
Regis joins your party. Just go on home.
Westa is worried: Oh-oh-oh, my goodness. Rena. What have I done?
Rena: Mother, I'm back. What is the matter, Mother? Why are you so flustered?
Westa: I did it...
Rena: You did what? I am asking you what is the matter.
Westa: I told him.
Rena: What did you tell him?
Westa: About The Warrior...
Rena: You said that? And what did Mr. Claude say?
Westa: He didn't seem to really understand.
Regis: Please, just calm down. He still doesn't understand the situation, right?
Claude comes downstairs.
Regis: So you are Mr. Claude. Pleased to meet you. My name is Regis, I am the Mayor of this village.
Claude: Yes, I am Claude.

The scene shifts to Rena, Claude, and Regis at the table and Westa listening in the background.

Regis: I was told that you saved Rena in the Shingo Forest. I am very grateful.
Claude: Oh, it was nothing.
Regis: Rena told me that you are in the middle of a journey.
Claude is surprised: Well, I wouldn't use such a grandiose word, but...
Regis: To where are you traveling? The Kingdom of Cross, or perhaps the Continent of Lacour?
Claude is embarrassed: Um, well ... I don't really ...
Regis: You don't know where you are and you are not clear on your destination. Quite a strange traveler, I must say.
Claude pulls the three dots: What are you trying to say?
Regis: ...At the risk of being rude, I must say that you are lying, Mr. Claude. You are no simple traveler.
Claude pulls the three dots: If I am no traveler, then who am I?
Regis: A man from another world, ... the Warrior of Legend. You are merely disguising yourself as a traveler to spy upon the world. Am I wrong? Are you not the Warrior who has come to save us?
Claude exclamation points: What?! Hang on, just a minute here! On what grounds do you say that?
Regis: As for grounds, I can cite our local legends which have been passed down through the ages. They say:

"When this land Expel is threatened with a menace and the people are suffering, a Warrior wearing alien raiments shall appear. He shall carry a Sword of Light and save the people."

Regis: You wear alien raiments and carry a Sword of Light. Do we need further proof?
Claude: I don't have anything like that Sword of Light.
Rena: But when you saved me, you used a weapon that shoots out a dazzling beam of light, didn't you?
Claude: Well, that was...
Westa: Might this be a different person?
Rena: No. He's the same person!
Regis: Hmmm...
Claude: I understand about the Sword of Light. It is not exactly a Sword of Light, but I do have such a weapon. But that does not make me some sort of Warrior. This must be some sort of mistake.
Rena: Why do you say such a thing?
Claude: Because I am really not the Warrior. I have no such power. In the first place, I don't really know what is happening... And for you to suddenly ask me to help you...
Rena is surprised: ... You really don't know? About the Sorcery Globe and about the disasters...
Claude pulls the three dots.
Regis: They are not occurring in this village. Disasters are occurring throughout the world.
Claude pulls the three dots again.
Regis: You really do not know, I see. Let me explain.
Regis: It started three months ago...

A scene of the Sorcery Globe crashing into Expel occurs with still shots through Regis telling the story. It moves quickly so I was unable to transcribe it. Basically, the Sorcery Globe crashed into El and people started noticing unusual things. El was ransacked by demons and other continents are feeling the effects too. People believe that there is no coincidence with the events. Gotta love the music at this point though.

Regis gets up and paces: The Sorcery Globe fell to the ground suddenly, and now you appear suddenly. If that meteorite is the source of all the misfortunes, then we felt that you are the only one who could put an end to them.
Claude: But I...
Regis: Disasters are occurring even now thought the world. Earthquake swarms the likes of which we have never seen, animals turning into demons... Some day these misfortunes will fall upon this village also.
Claude pulls the three dots: But ... I ... I have no such power. I would have no chance against a meteorite that is able to cause such misfortune.
Regis: So where exactly do you come from and where are you going?
Claude: That ... I can't easily explain. Even if I were able to explain, I doubt you would understand. The one thing I can say is that I did not come here of my own will, but rather I came by accident.
Regis pulls the three dots: You are being so vague that I have trouble understanding.
Claude: Yet ... that is all I can say.
Regis pulls the three dots: I see... Since you deny it so forcefully, what you say must be the truth. So ... I see that you really are not the Warrior.
Rena: No!
Claude pulls the three dots: I'm sorry. I know that this must be a disappointment to you.
Regis: Yes, but it was our misunderstanding. This is not something that you need worry about.
Westa: I am sorry about that ...
Rena gets up and walks out.
Westa: Rena!

Once outside Rena stands at the river edge and thinks to herself: I can't believe it... I just knew it had to be him. He had the Alien Raiments and the Sword of Light...

The scene fades and a new day begins. You begin upstairs in Rena's room. Get the treasure chest for a Blackberry. Then go downstairs and talk to mom.

Westa: Today is such a beautiful day. Why don't you go for a walk?

Okay! Go and chat with people.

Old woman: Oh, Rena. Nice weather today.

Little girl: Rena, are you going to the Shingo Forest again today?

Kids in the house
Little boy: When I grow up, I'm gonna be the Warrior! Then I'm gonna protect Miss Rena, too!
Little girl: But big brother, what about me?
Little boy: Don't be silly, of course I'm gonna protect you too.

Man outside: Rena, today I don't see the man you were with yesterday. If he is your boyfriend ... be sure to take him home to meet your mother.

Go to the general store if you want, but there's nothing new there. Go to the left part of the village

Lucia: The animals outside of the village used to be so gentle. I wonder what happened?

Young girl: Rena, you're here alone today. Did you have a fight? That's no good. You have to get along...

Newlywed house
Husband: Hi, Rena.
Wife: You are here by yourself today.
Husband: Actually, when I ran into Alen the other day, I wondered what he is going to do.
Wife: You know, Rena, Alen likes you.
Rena: That's not ... (Alen isn't Dias is what she means to say ;))
Husband: Alen is normally pretty gentle, but he might get scary when he gets mad. What if he screams 'Rena, I Love You!'
Wife: Now don't go scaring the girl.
Rena: Tee-hee. Alen is not like that. He may be rich but he's not stuck up like that.
Wife: But we haven't seen Alen lately. He used to come to Arlia nearly every day.
Husband: Now that you mention it, that's right. We haven't seen him for nearly two weeks. I wonder what's happened?

Go outside again and wander to the church for more mindless conversation.

Young girl: Today is peaceful. No earthquakes either. It is much better to have peaceful days everyday. We must thank God.

Boy: Rena, have you ever seen the Warrior? (Better not answer that one.)

Priest: Ahh, Rena. Good morning.
Rena pulls three dots: Good morning, Father.
Priest: What is the matter? You do not look well.
Rena: Oh, it's nothing...
Priest: I hope that is so, but Rena, I don't like to see such a sad face on you. You know that you can come to church if anything troubles you.
Rena: Thank you. But it's OK.
Priest: Your late father had asked this of me 'Take care of Rena'. Please come to me for advice whenever you feel the need. There is no need for you to bear the burden by yourself.
Rena: Thank you very much, Father.
Priest: Think nothing of it. Cheer up, Rena.

Go on out and talk to the old man.

Old man: It's been three months since the Sorcery Globe landed on the continent of El. I do seem to hear all sorts of disquieting rumours... What do you suppose that Sorcery Globe really is?

Head on down and save at the save point. You are about to see some action finally. At least after another bit of conversation. Go on into the forest to where the only battle so far has taken place. Go up until you lose control of Rena.

Rena pulls the three dots: What ... was it that I wanted to do? Father ... what should I do...?

Scene fades and goes to Rena as a child in her room.

Rena: Father...

Chibi Rena walks out of her room.

Westa: So what do you say that I should do?
Regis: Don't raise your voice like that. Rena will hear.
Rena is surprised and goes to the top of the staircase.
Westa: She was so shocked by the death of her father that she cried herself to sleep.
Regis: Westa, you too must have suffered a shock. As a mother, you must keep calm.
Westa: How can I be calm? He is dead, don't you understand!
Regis: Westa!
Westa: ... If he were not here, I, I don't know what I'd do... I must tell her by myself! I have to tell her that she's not my real child.
Rena exclamation points.
Westa: I should have just thrown away that pendant. If there was no sign of her real mother, she would be my daughter alone!
Rena looks at her pendant as the scene fades out.

Back to the Shingo Forest.

Rena thinks: Just who ... am I ...?

Rena is surprised to see Claude walking toward her.

Claude: Rena...
Rena: Mr. Claude... (Oh, I just hoped you would be Dias.)
Claude: Morning.
Rena: Good morning. (Yeah, definitely wanted you to be Dias.)
Claude: You're not looking well ... what's wrong?
Rena: Huh? Oh, nothing. (I'll stop with the smart assed comments :p) Sorry about yesterday. I made such a fuss on my own. mistake...
Claude: Don't worry about it. I would have thought that I was a suspicious character myself. Upon hearing the whole story, such a misunderstanding would only be natural.
Rena turns away for a moment, then faces Claude again: ... I grew up hearing the story of the Warrior. You know, the Warrior would appear whenever we were in trouble. And now, lots people are in trouble in lots of places, sp when I saw you, Mr. Claude, looking exactly like the legend says, I just thought, This must be him!
Claude: ...So that's it.
Rena: Sort of like that.
Claude: Sorry that I'm not your Warrior...
Rena: You don't have to say that ... Mr. Claude ... you didn't do anything wrong. It was completely my own mistake.
Claude: But I really am sorry. I wish there were something I could do...
Rena shakes her head: Please don't worry about it... I just hope that you can get back home quickly.
Claude thinks: Rena...
Rena: Sorry, but would you please leave me alone for a little while longer?
Claude: Uh, OK. I just want you to ... feel better. Well, I'll leave you ... (uhh, yeah, we know exactly how you'd like to make her feel better (Couldn't resist that one))
Claude leaves Rena alone.
Rena thinks: Sorry, Mr. Claude...

Scene moves to a long range view instead of close up crappy graphics. Come on, you gotta admit the graphics leave a lot to be desired.

Rena pulls the three dots then thinks to herself: Well ... I guess I'll be going back now. I mustn't worry Mother...

You gain control over Rena and head back to the village. Save if you want to.

You're done with this part of the walkthrough. Go on to part 2 or back to the TOC.
