Gabriel was one of the first approached about the Ten Sage Defense project that was spearheaded by a Dr. Lantis. He left his teaching position as a Philosophy professor to join the Ten Sage project. He didn't know who he would be as he read the information given about each Sage, but he assumed that it would be one of the lesser ones. After he underwent the procedure that would fuse small amounts of the Energy Stone into his DNA, he was renamed as Gabriel. It was something he had not been expecting and nearly destroyed the lab at his first attempt with Heraldry afterwards. He had been taken to a small island so that he could get his new powers under control without endangering anyone. Without the permission of Dr. Lantis, Gabriel began to form two new spells that were more devastating than the Star Flare that he had been taught, Divine Wave and Divine Song. These two would save his life many times during the upcoming war. When the war broke out, Gabriel found his programming changed from defense to offense. He tried to fight it and nearly succeeded until Dr. Lantis downloaded his personality into Gabriel. The Sage found himself at war with this new personality. After 3 billion years in Eternity Space, he wants revenge on those who have wronged him, and Dr. Lantis doesn't have to push for violence anymore.

Lucifer used to be a soldier in Nede's Defense Force. He loved the thrill of battle and was always a bit out of control. He was suggested for the program by an old friend, Dr. Miller (Gabriel). Lucifer was given new orders. He was to report to Dr. Lantis without a reason given. Upon arrival, he underwent the procedure and became one of the Sages. When he woke, the first person he saw was Gabriel. He was elated to see his friend, but he knew something was unusual about the situation. He was given his name of Lucifer and accompanied Gabriel to the same small island to discover and control his powers. He itched for battle, but was controlled by the program for defense. When the day came for revenge, he picked up a weapon and willingly went to battle. Many of the deaths that occurred were at Lucifer's hands. He cared not if he was killing men, women, or children. He found himself in trouble with Gabriel when the Sages were exiled to Eternity Space. Children were not a part of the agenda. Now, however, after 3 billion years of prison, they have become very much a target and Lucifer is itching to fight once again.

Zadkiel is rumored to be Gabriel's son. Gabriel had been a Sage for ten years when Zadkiel was brought into the project. It was no secret that Gabriel had slept around prior to joining the Sages and Zadkiel could very well have been an end result of one of those trysts. Zadkiel was loved as a young child, but his mother died, leaving Zadkiel alone. It was Gabriel who brought Zadkiel to Dr. Lantis and it was Gabriel who mentored Zadkiel. It was Gabriel who suggested the antennae be used in place of ears to heighten Zadkiel's hearing for better information gathering. It was Gabriel who placed Zadkiel in charge of information gathering. The other Sages felt that Gabriel was protecting Zadkiel from combat, keeping him out of the line of fire. During the war, Gabriel kept Zadkiel by his side at all times. After 3 billion years, Zadkiel has grown up mentally and has demanded independence. Gabriel has relented and allowed Zadkiel to fight on his own.

Raphael is the only female among the Ten Sages. She was also the first to be created. Dr. Lantis used her as a test subject to see if the Energy Stone would mix with a Nedian's DNA for the purposes of the project. Once she was deemed a success, she was kept separate from the others. Gabriel found her one day when he was exploring the facilities. He was new to the Sages and surprised to discover others. When he found Raphael, he demanded her reinstatement into the project. Dr. Lantis relented and Raphael was back in the project. She was grateful for Gabriel's intervention and swore her life to him afterwards. Gabriel realised how good she was with taking information and assimilating it into useful bits for the Sages, so he asked her to be their translation specialist. All data information they received would be translated by Raphael and presented to the Sages. During the war, her job became crucial as the Defense Force used their computers to send their messages. She cracked their code several times until they captured her and exiled her. She was the first to fall. After 3 billion years of exile, Raphael is out for blood. Her first targets are those directly related to the ones who trapped her.
